Arizona is a zero-tolerance state for driving under the influence, or DUI. Meaning you can be arrested for drunk driving even if you are less than the legal limit of 0.08 percent. & You may be severely punished.

Your First DUI Offense:

The first offense is punishable by at least 10 days in jail and fines upwards of $1,500. You will lose your license for at least 90 days. An interlock ignition device will be installed in your car, and community service and alcohol eduction programs may also be required.

Second DUI Convictions:

Second DUI convictions carry at least 90 days in jail, 30 hours of community service and fines of over $2,800. Your driver’s license will be revoked for one year. When driving privileges are reinstated, your vehicle will be equipped with an interlock ignition device for one year.
 
If you are charged with a third DUI within seven years, you face felony charges. Felony DUI is punishable by up to 10 years in prison and fines up to $150,000. You will lose your driver’s license for three years and may be on probation for up to 10 years. The court can also confiscate your vehicle.

Extreme DUI:

Extreme DUI is the result of driving with a blood alcohol level of .15 or above. In Arizona, Extreme DUI is punishable by a minimum of 30 days in jail and fines over $3,000. You may be ordered to perform community service, a year-long driver’s license revocation and the installation of an interlock device.

Second Extreme DUI:

Your second Extreme DUI conviction carries even harsher penalties, including at least 120 days in jail, fines over $3,000, 30 hours of community service, a year-long driver’s license revocation and the installation of an interlock device.

Super Extreme DUI:

A DUI is referred to as a Super Extreme DUI if the person’s blood alcohol concentration is .200 or above.  For the first offense of Super Extreme DUI, you are guaranteed a minimum of 45 days in jail, and for the second offense at least 180 days in jail, with fines over $3,200. A super DUI conviction will also result in an extended period of ignition interlock device and license suspension.
